Colin Kaepernick has made quite an impression on everyone in his second season.  The 6-4, 230-pound quarterback took over as the starting signal-caller for the San Francisco 49ers in mid-November after Alex Smith went down with a concussion.

Selected in the second round (36th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Nevada, Kaepernick completed just three of five passes for 35 yards in his rookie year and amounted -2 yards on two carries on the ground.

Kaepernick saw slight success in limited action earlier in October, but he’s really taken the league by storm since his first start in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears.  He finished the regular season having completed 136 of 218 passes (62.4 percent) for 1,814 yards with 10 touchdowns to only three interceptions in 13 games and seven starts.  He also added 415 yards and five scores on 63 carries.

He hasn’t slowed down at all in the postseason, either.  He’s completed 33 of 52 passes (63.5 percent) for 496 yards and three touchdowns to one interception and added 202 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, as he helped lead the Niners to advance against the Green Bay Packers (45-31) and Atlanta Falcons (28-24) onto the “HarBowl” or “Harbaugh Bowl” in a battle with the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII.

Colin Kaepernick, 49ers - Pizza Delivered To Media

Kaepernick, 25, also took the local media by storm this week when he (and his agency, XAM Sports) ordered 15 pizzas and delivered them to the 49ers media.  The pizza, as the Mercury News’ Tim Kawakami reports, was from Pizza My Heart.

Very classy move by this up-and-coming young star quarterback, especially considering one of Kaepernick’s first few big experiences with the NFL media was a horrible article complaining about his tattoos.

However, as Frank Schwab of Yahoo! Sports writes, “this does put a lot of heat on Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to one-up Kaepernick this week and hire a chef to cook steaks for the reporters covering the Ravens.”
